The new single from Saint Jude is the garage-inspired ‘No Angels’. It’s an interesting track that blends an emotive, lyrical storytelling with lo-fi drum patterns and airy synth chords. At the same time, Saint Jude is able to extract a seriously catchy chorus that he delivers with his instantly recognisable voice. “The message in ‘No Angels’ is about more than lockdown specifically,” he says. “Community and solidarity is the most important thing, and will always be in conflict with the forces of capital and money.” His songwriting style is eclectic and modern, with tracks released this year wandering into both dreampop and post-dubstep, as well as garage.
